
Malaysia: hands-on training workshop 14 - 17 July 2022
This capacity development workshop was held in a hall at UiTM on 14 – 17 July 2022. The meeting was attended by students, and representatives of local institutions (40 people in total). The proceeding was opened by the deputy rector of the university, who gave a short speech in which he highlighted the importance of new technologies that can support agriculture. During the rest of the program there were lectures presented that covered current challenges in agriculture, introduced the concepts of precision agriculture, and how drones can be used in agriculture, as well as sessions that covered regulations and safety aspects of using drones in Malaysia. There were two days of hands-on training for technical aspects of processing and analyzing imagery from drones. The last day consisted of a field trip to a farm, where participants engaged with local farmers, and were shown practically how to operate drones.
